In the fall of 2019, I took a class named Impact Design Hub, taught by Dr. Paula DiMarco, at California State University, Northridge that contracts its students to do design work in groups for non-profit organizations around the greater Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley.
I was fortunate enough to get elected into the creative director and lead designer position in my small group. Our group worked closely with DiMarco and Professor Jessica Baty, the head of the communication studies department, to collaborate on the entire rebranding of the LAPD Cadets. Baty  collaborates with the LAPD and their cadet squad to keep children of the neighboring communities out of the streets and to help them learn life skills such as pride, self-control, public speaking, and discipline. Through programs at CSUN, Baty enlists her own students at the university to teach the children these skills.
My team and I fully developed a new name and logo for the program as well as produced a few print advertisements, a social media guide for them to follow, web content to post and decorate their site, and various pictures from events attended. At the end of the fall semester, Impact Design Hub held a presentation at Toolbox LA, in promotion of all the new material and designs for non-profits, harnessed by the class itself.
CSUN SYNC is an acronym for CSUN "Strengthening Youth, Nourishing Communities".
